Mid-Atlantic Job Board announces Twitter-based recruiting tool
WEST CHESTER, PA, May 13 - JobCircle.com, the largest independently owned and operated job board in the United States, announced today that it has launched a new product that helps companies use Twitter to find and hire employees. The product, called the ‘Social Media Recruitment Pack', provides companies with the ability to create a privately branded Twitter job channel, which is an account on Twitter that allows them to tweet open positions to the Twittersphere in real time.
Founded in August 2006, Twitter is a micro-blogging service that allows users to send out short 140 character messages, or "tweets", to followers who have subscribed to receive them. Unlike Facebook, Twitter is an open network that allows connectivity with anyone who uses Twitter without his or her permission. This open approach, combined with a programming API that has spawned thousands of third-party applications using the Twitter platform, has caused prolific growth of this tool. As of March 2009, the latest numbers from Nielsen Online indicate that Twitter grew 1,382% year-over-year in February, registering a total of just more than 7 million unique visitors in the US for the month. According to Twellow.com, an online Twitter directory, there are over 16,000 Twitter users that are affiliated with recruiting and Human Resources.
"Until Twitter, people had to use a listing service or a job board to connect with each other," said JobCircle's President, Joe Stubblebine. "I see Twitter as a social media tool that can have a real impact on recruiting. It allows employers to reach out to jobseekers in a very direct and instant way, and provides jobseekers with the ability to market themselves easily to a large audience."
Among the first companies to utilize this new product offering is QVC, Inc., headquartered in West Chester, PA. The broadcast retail giant can now be found on Twitter at http://www.twitter.com/qvcjobs. Visitors who click the job link in the tweets are sent directly to the corporate website, where they can apply instantly online for consideration. Clients' jobs will also be distributed to over 160 vertical and industry niche job channels established by JobCircle.com, and located at http://www.jobcircle.com/twitter, in addition to 40+ vertical aggregator job sites like Indeed, Simplyhired, TopUSAJobs, and others.
