Jobs Gone Wild

Yesterday we hosted one of the largest job fairs that Philadelphia has seen in quite a while. Over 6,300 jobseekers descended upon the Wachovia Center, most of them before the event even began. If you were watching Fox 29 yesterday (our partner for this event), you may have seen coverage of the event, and the aerial shot of the huge line that formed outside and rolled all the way to the Spectrum next door. Jobseeker after jobseeker entered the event, all with their own story and all looking for a break in their job search.

Over 55 companies attended the event, including our sponsors: Harrah’s Chester Casino & Racetrack, Authentic Bartending School, Sicom Systems, Manpower, Family Service, Olympus Corporation of the Americas and The Horsham Clinic. Our partner for the event, Fox 29, was on site all day, providing live coverage during Good Day Philadelphia, the Noon News and the 5 o’clock News. On-air talent, including Michelle Buckman, Mike Jerrick, Sheinelle Jones, Kerri-Lee Halkett and others spent the day greeting jobseekers and listening to their stories.

Free jobseeker services were also available, including a stylist (to give advice on interview attire), photographer (to take professional pics for online profiles), resume critiques (by Right Management) and video resume taping (by Fox 29). Thanks to all that participated, especially Fox 29 and our sponsors!

I hope to see you at our next job fair, which takes place on March 24th at the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia.
