Pink Slip Party Networking – Getting a job over drinks.

Last night’s Pink Slip Party in Cherry Hill was, as Paris Hilton would say, HUGE. The sold-out event took place at P.J. Whelihan’s Pub on Marlton Pike and it definitely was the place to be, especially if your were looking for a job, or 1/2 price wings.
Over 150 jobseekers and 30-35 recruiters attended (check out the pics!). Many came early and stayed for most of the event, which ran from 5:00pm – 8:00pm. All jobseekers and recruiters were identified by industry with a colored-necklace and it appeared that there was a nice mix of candidates from all industries. The place seemed to be buzzing all night, and our sponsors for the event – AXA Advisors, Integrity Career Transitions and Xsell Resources – appeared to be busy most of the time.
We continue to host these Pink Slip Parties so that we can assist jobseekers in this slow economy. Our hope is that jobseekers will either make some new contacts that lead to a job, or, at the very least, connect with other jobseekers so that they realize that they are not alone – plus, it’s always about networking! The person standing next to you at a party may be an IT professional looking to speak to an IT recruiter, however, his wife may be a recruiter herself, looking for a candidate like you! You just never know. If you are a jobseeker that is still looking, stay positive and keep marketing yourself to as many people as possible – the market is stabilizing and we are seeing positive things happening in employment.
We are planning to host more parties in the future. If you have attended any of our Pink Slip Parties and have had a positive experience, please let us know!

I never heard of a Pink Slip party or attend one. But I think it is a great idea to get recruiters HR personnel and job seekers together in one area. God Bless.
