It used to astonish me as a recruiter how some candidates would handle their phone communications. Not just our clients, but also the account manager, my team, and my boss were counting on me to produce candidates with high value and low risk. As a recruiter, I had to understand a candidate’s value well enough to relay it to the stakeholders in a way that inspired their support for that candidate. I also had to be prepared to address any of the perceived risks that candidate’s behavior or experience posed. Now that I am coach, I can share the insight of my experience. Negotiating in Today’s Job Market

You can always negotiate. However, your chances of getting a desirable result depends on how prepared and educated you are. The point of negotiating is not to battle for power or the upper hand and it is not to squeeze the employer for every last ounce of compensation from their budget. The point of negotiating is to come to a win-win solution where each party gets equal value.
