<p><font face="Trebuchet MS" color="#000000" size=2><br><font size="1"><a href="group_list.xml">Article Group List</a> / <a href="index_3.xml">Diversity</a> / An unfair advantage?</font><br><br><b><font size = "+1">An unfair advantage?</font></b><p>Do diversity initiatives give minority MBAs an strong hand up?&nbsp; Not according to a recent survey of 109 African-American, Hispanic-American and Native-American MBAs conducted by the PhD Project.


<p>


The survey found that 73 percent of the correspondents felt minority MBAs lagged "somewhat" or "far" behind non-minorities in getting hired for corporate positions, while only 12 percent said minorities have an advantage.


<p>


97 percent felt minorities fared worse in reaching the corporate "inner circle" (that nirvana of golf and board positions); 0 percent believed minorities had an advantage in their access.


On a brighter note, 38 percent of the MBAs surveyed felt opportunities for minority MBAs to get good jobs and advance in their careers will improve, with 40 percent predicting no change and 22 percent forseeing a worsening of conditions.
