West Chester University's TEC MBA Program
The Technology and Electronic Commerce (TEC) MBA at West Chester University is the first MBA program in the Philadelphia region to focus on Electronic Commerce and other important business technologies. Launched in September of 1999 and now entering its second year, the TEC MBA has become a recognized leader in E-Commerce graduate business education. West Chester is committed to maintaining its leadership position by presenting a dynamic and comprehensive program that focuses on a wide range of technological issues facing businesses today and in the future. Unlike some MBA programs, which offer only a few courses in their concentrations, the TEC MBA is a fully involved program in which nearly half the coursework (six courses) deals directly with Technology and Electronic Commerce.
Courses in the TEC MBA program are structured in a way that not only exposes students to important technological tools and concepts that impact how business is conducted but, more importantly, examines these issues from a managerial perspective. Thus, the intention of this program is not simply to teach students about new technologies but to educate them on how these technologies and the people utilizing them can affect the current and future direction of their company and industry.
The overall philosophy of the program is to provide managers, technology-focused personnel, entrepreneurs and other professionals with a level of Awareness, Knowledge and Strategic Understanding that is necessary to compete and succeed in the rapidly evolving information technology economy.
The program also maintains a pulse on the real business world by bringing to the classroom leading experts from local and national high-tech companies. So far the program has featured speakers from a number of high-tech firms including 4anything.com, ASPRE, CB Technologies, Mindbridge.com, Nortel Networks, VerticalNet, WingspanBank and several more.
