  Be Victorious This Year!

Be Victorious This Year!

New Year's Day dawns and you mount your trusty steed named "Optimism", wearing the suit of armor known as "Commitment", wielding the legendary blade they call "Resolve".  YOU WILL BE VICTORIOUS THIS YEAR.  Unlike campaigns of yesteryear, this year will be different.  This is the year when all the stars are in alignment, shining favorably upon your destiny to achieve your goals, slaying those dragons that have been scorching you with their withering, fiery breath of defeat.  Alas, legend and myth are sure to continue in your personal "Chronicles of Blarnia".  I invite you to turn away from fiction and try crafting history this year.

Did you ever notice that most New Year's resolutions are premised with negative action?  STOP SMOKING!  LOSE WEIGHT!  ELIMINATE DEBT!  For centuries, many philosophers have asked truth seekers to dismiss the negative and concentrate upon the positive.  And so do I.  Strive to Start Smokeless Breathing instead of Stop Smoking.  Work on Gain a Lower Body Fat Index instead of Lose Weight.  These are subtle but important differences.  The mind is powerful.  It is the influencer of your action.  People seek pleasure more fervently than they abandon displeasure.  Use this difference to your advantage.  Approach challenges from a positive perspective.

The same principle applies to your career search resolution.  Self-doubt, the devastation of non-selection, career stagnation, long periods of unemployment, financial hardship, and more, are the dragons that you must face.  Start the New Year by seeking pleasure, not fleeing from displeasure.  You present time situation may be uncomfortable, frustrating, and fear inducing, but it is the reality of the moment.  To be victorious, you must persevere and objectively plan to succeed.  Advance your career, don't Leave your job.  Succeed in your new position, don't Recover from dismissal.

One of the best ways to accomplish resolutions is to better understand who you are working with: you.  Often we do not see ourselves as others see us.  We look in the mirror through our own eyes.  And that gaze is colored by our self-image.  Objective assessments are available from many sources.  These validated assessments can help a person better understand who they are, uninfluenced by often subjective self opinion.  The key word here is objective.  I would invite you to consider using assessments to better understand who it is that is riding atop "Optimism", clad in "Commitment", and wielding the blade known as "Resolve".  That knight, who has chosen to create history, can then inspire myth and legend.

HAPPY AND SUCCESSFUL NEW YEAR!
