Systems Engineer (Network Operations)

NOTE: Candidate can expect to spend approximately 90% of their time in the Portland, Maine area

We are currently seeking a System Engineer who works on problems of moderate scope/complexity where analysis of situations or data requires a review of identifiable factors. Regularly exercises judgment to determine appropriate action. Responsible for contributing to the completion of specific programs, projects and commitments established for the work unit while operating under the general direction of a manager. Requires specific knowledge of profession differentiated by skills, education, experience, level of complexity and degree of autonomy. Typically requires 4-6 years of related experience with a BS degree; 2-4 years experience with an MS.

Position requires experience working in a Network Operations Center (NOC) or past experience designing NOCs. Position also requires knowledge of the overall Service Assurance process and methods and end to end trouble ticket management as part of that process. Candidate will assist customer in standing up a new NOC including training of supervisors and technicians, performing NOC process tasks and/or provide supervision to technicians.

Candidate must have background in one of the following areas:
* Provisioning and Maintenance subject matter expertise for ATM/Frame Relay and IPMPLS services. Resource should know how to provision troubleshoot the ATM/Frame Relay and IP network elements.
o Candidate should have knowledge of the physical network and how to poll the network elements and be able to read all the data that the network provides back.
* Circuit Provisioning Center subject matter expertise. Candidate should have background in establishing centers including establishing procedures for the center and training center personnel.
* Broadband Services subject matter expertise. Candidate should have background in establishing processes for troubleshooting of broadband networks and training resources. Supervisory experience is a plus.

Additionally, Candidate should have:
* An understanding of service assurance metrics and process designs that can support best in class metrics.
* Knowledge of COTS service assurance products embedded functionality and its relationships to the processes
* Analytical background
* Ability to create process flows in a tool such as Visio or Casewise.
* Ability to travel. Candidates should be prepared to spend the majority of time in the Portland Maine area.
* Knowledge of methods of management of multiple technologies with a NOC.
* Knowledge of e-Tom and the ability to design processes to the sub-task level and to define Methods and procedures
