We are currently seeking a Software Systems Engineer who will be responsible for maintaining the testing labs to the standards. The functions of the job mandate that the ideal candidate will have workstation, network and server skills to ensure the uptime required of the testing labs. The candidate will need to support the software testing teams in order to ensure that there are no delays to production deliveries of key applications. The candidate will work closely to ensure environments match what they will deploy, and are deploying, in the field to ensure accurate testing of applications. The person will be responsible to build and configure development and test servers for application areas to use.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR: • Build and configure • Windows workstations for software testing • Work closely to build, configure and troubleshoot the testing labs • Build and configure virtual machines in the Engineering lab to support development and testing initiatives • Provide workstation support (patches, connectivity, troubleshooting) within the packaging and performance testing lab • Provide recommendations on the acquisition of hardware and software needed for the support of the testing labs • Enforce security policies with regards to systems and data security and integrity • Configure and support network infrastructure required for the testing labs to function (i.e. T1, routers, switches, etc) • Knowledge of alternate OS is a plus (Mac OS X, Red Hat, other Linux)
EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES EXPERIENCE: • Technical knowledge within the development life cycle. • Be able to work well in group settings as well as individual. • Have 5 years of experience, preferably in the Integration or Systems Engineering capacity with a minimum of 2 years experience with web technologies such as Websphere, Apache and IBM HTTP Server. • Experience in any other area, such as large-scale system design, deployment and operations is preferred. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: • Experience with the following technologies: o Solaris, Linux and NT o Web Technologies (including Apache, Websphere, IBM HTTP server) o J2EE o Understanding of Networks o Oracle and SQL • Experience in working with developers and testers • Attention to detail • Strong written and oral communication skills • Ability to work with many different types of people • Ability to work as a member of a team • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision EDUCATION: The candidate should have a Bachelor's degree, with coursework in the information processing or business-related curricula, or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired is necessary.
