The Security Administrator is responsible for implementing and maintaining security controls on CIM properties, for assessing the security posture of CIM properties, and for maintaining availability of CIM properties from a network and supporting system infrastructure perspective.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Network and system security expert Responsible for all aspects of network security including administration of firewalls, host and network based IDS, network device hardening, system hardening, administering strong authentication mechanisms Responsible for proactive monitoring for new vulnerabilities Responsible for security remediation as directed
Security architecture design Understanding of defense-in-depth designs and security layers
· Maintaining security compliance operations and infrastructure
o Understanding of industry best practices for security architecture frameworks, tools, standards and guidelines
o Able to assess and validate compliance to acknowledged security standards through routine self-audits
o Interface with audit organizations internally and externally as needed
o Able to test and report on news security technologies
o Interface with vendors for resolving security related problems
SKILLS REQUIREMENTS
Skilled in administration/understanding of: Firewalls Host and network based IDS Network device hardening System hardening Strong authentication mechanisms Managing user databases Solaris/Unix system administration skills Extensive network and system troubleshooting skills Skilled in use and interpretation of vulnerability assessment tools Skilled and/or familiar with penetration testing tools Knowledge of information security standards, processes, policies and metrics (encompassing network security, application security and data security) · Applicable security certifications (CISSP, SCNA, SCNP, TICSA)
SAMPLE ACTIVITIES (NOT COMPREHENSIVE)
· Maintain firewall/router network access control and configurations
· Maintain system and network device security
· Maintain network and host based IDS
· Monitor systems and network for security compliance
· Report security incidents and report security findings as appropriate
· Report security violations
· Conduct security testing on a regular basis
· Liaise with third party security audits and accreditation
Install and configure security hardware and software Troubleshoot connectivity issues Respond to security and availability incidents
