Performance Systems Engineer (SilkPerfomer)Posted: October 29, 2009
The candidate filling this Performance System Engineer position will be responsible for performing load and stress tests utilizing tools such as SilkPerformer, and focusing on application and system behavior from a black box perspective. Load and Stress testing tools are employed to ensure that the application will be able to support the current and anticipated workloads on the deployed application, predict system performance and behavior under load, and identify the technical and functional failure points.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:
The ideal candidate will create test scenarios to be executed within the testing environment, analyze and evaluate test results, make recommendations to the project teams. Responsible for many variations of performance tests including but not limited to load testing, stress testing, and endurance testing as follows:
1. Load Testing - Modeling the behavior of users in the real world. Develop test scripts that mimic the behaviors that users commonly perform, and include think-time delays and arrival rates reflective of those observed in the real world.
2. Stress testing - Load testing with the user think-time delays removed.
3. Endurance testing - Long-duration load or stress test.
EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
The ideal candidate:
• Should have at least 5 years experience performance engineering with a market leading commercial performance test tool.
• Must have current hands on SilkPerformer experience (Borland product).
• Attention to detail, strong written and communication skills and the ability to interact with many individuals.
• Knowledge of IBM HTTP Web Server (Apache), IBM WebSphere 5.xx application server and JRun application server a plus.
• Knowledge of PeopleSoft is a plus.
• Experience testing web services applications a plus
• SilkTest experience is a plus
EDUCATION:
The candidate should have a Bachelor's degree, with coursework in the information processing or business-related curricula, or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired is necessary.
