Data Modeler
Location: Philadelphia, PA 19103 Interview Schedule: Phone screen, then personal interview with hiring manager and technical team leaders. Salary: Base 85k-95k/year Position description: Under administrative direction, provides leadership in the use and administration of databases; responsible for defining, implementing, protecting and maintaining complex relational and other databases. Instructs and consults with systems personnel relating to the integration of databases to meet the needs of new applications or expanding existing ones; provides advice to management concerning the databases used and what information is available. Gathers and analyzes information on databases currently installed to locate and correct possible inefficiencies; establishes and maintains standards for using databases and database management facilities; insures adequate documentation of database and database usage is available. Establishes and maintains common data definitions for database users in order to eliminate data redundancy and to improve data integrity; researches and develops techniques, procedures and tools for more efficient use of resources in the database environment • Transform business requirements into logical data models • Assist in the development extended logical model and physical model • Assist in the development and enforcement of names conversion from Logical to Physical • Assist application developers • Ensure operational effectiveness of the current Information Technology systems. Participate in the following: o Performance Monitoring and Tuning o Environment Troubleshooting and Vendor support o Support of Packaged Application Software (PeopleSoft, Documentum, WebLogic Portal, etc) • Setup and maintain documentation and standards. • Determine and manage application indexes necessary to optimize database performance. • Maintaining integrity of databases, including referential integrity checking and multiple access schemes (locking). • Maintaining data integrity by establishing standards; monitoring performance. • Providing information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing database performance and trends. • Ability to collaborate with development teams and production support team in meeting deliverables from both a quality and schedule perspective. • They could also be required to provide 2nd tier off-hours remote support. Experience in developing and maintaining database standards is required. • Experience in developing and maintaining database standards is required. • The ideal candidate will be a high energy individual with a strong work ethic. Required Skills • 3-5 years hands-on experience in the modeling, development and implementation of databases. • 2+ years of logical and physical modeling experience in ERWIN or similar modeling tool. • Experience in Database Management, Oracle, SQL Programming, Database Security. • Requirements Analysis, Problem Solving, Promoting Process Improvement, Data Maintenance, Database Performance Tuning, Process Improvement. • Strong experience in performance tuning & query optimization. Nice to Haves • Experience in implementing a data warehouse is preferred. • Excellent customer service, organizational, and communication skills. • High Energy and the ability to work well within a team environment • Strong experience in performance tuning & query optimization.
