Electric System Operator

Apex Systems is searching for an Electric Systems Operator for a large client in Allentown, PA.

The System Operator (SO) is responsible for coordinating and directing the minute-to-minute operation of the Electric Utility distribution systems in a safe, reliable, and economic fashion. Substation and power grid experience is a must.

Basic Qualifications:
-- A minimum of three years in a skilled field electrical or line crew position preferred.

-- Ability to work independently, without supervision, and as a member of a group.

-- Good attendance/safety history.

-- Strong communication skills, both written and oral.

-- Thorough, expert level knowledge of the protective permit and tagging system required.

-- Knowledge of all types of overhead, underground and substation equipment, their operating characteristics, and load carrying/interrupting capabilities.

-- Ability and initiative to organize and direct a number of concurrent activities under extreme pressure.

-- A high degree of personal discipline and respect for preparing accurate data, permits, switching orders, and other reports.

-- Basic computer skills.

-- Good interpersonal relationship skills to coordinate with personnel of various departments, and with personnel of other companies.

-- Maintain effectiveness in a changing work environment and in dealing with different tasks and people.

-- Ability to interface with and effectively direct personnel of both the Bargaining Unit and Management.

-- Ability to organize and analyze data and apply sound reasoning and judgment in developing appropriate solutions to operation of the system under normal and emergency conditions.
