The Technical Engineer/Lead - Server Storage position is responsible for providing strategic and tactical support for managing our Server & Data Storage requirements. This position provides oversight for all components of server/storage and will support day to day operations, project, implementation, incident, resolution, installation, configuration, and technical management of the Infrastructure architecture related server and storage management. Additionally, this position supports or coordinates project activities with other teams across IM to ensure successful and seamless implementation of IM and IT Operations goals and objectives.
Ensure successful day to day operations of server/storage management, including timely response to incidents and elimination of major repeats, budget/financial management and vendor management
Provide technical expertise and strategic direction for managing patches, backup/recovery processes and technologies, including leadership/supervision for all associated resources, including internal employees, contractors and/or vendors associated with the Data Center
Project/Portfolio management and support to ensure alignment to technology roadmap and departmental goals and objectives. Build storage management strategies and architecture to be flexible and scalable enough to meet current requirements and potential growth opportunities
Stay current with emerging technologies related to server/storage management, SAN technologies and architecture and backup technologies. Provide periodic updates to technology roadmaps, as needed
Provide cross-functional consultation and participation as needed.
Requirements:
Skills:
Advanced knowledge and application in server/storage management, SAN technologies and backup technologies
Project management, with emphasis on management of technology integration
Patch management capabilities - proficiency in maintaining currency with latest releases and patches
Supervisory capabilities
Education / Experience:
Bachelor's Degree with a preferred concentration in IS/IST/MIS
5+ years in Storage Management, with focus in IBM hardware (DS4000 series), blade technologies, Microsoft Operating Systems and Symantec backup/recovery (NetBackup) solutions
Abilities:
