Development Chemist / Senior Chemist - Innovation

Title: Development Chemist / Senior Chemist - Innovation Location: NY-Suffern We are seeking a Senior Chemist to join our Innovation group. The primary responsibility of this position is leading the formulation efforts to convert conceptual innovative ideas or technologies into actionable product prototypes that demonstrate unique and consumer perceivable benefits. This includes hand-on formulation works on the bench, as well as leading the technical approaches on matrix project teams to achieve project goals. This candidate is expected to identify, explore and develop novel, innovative and consumer-relevant technology and product prototypes for cosmetic products by experimenting with unique raw materials, formulation approaches and processing techniques. The candidate will also be responsible for planning and designing technical approaches of projects, setting up milestones, and driving projects to their completion. It is expected that the candidate will have a broad breath of understanding of material trends in the cosmetic and other allied industries to drive innovative formulations into breakthrough products and be able to manage multiple projects. The ideal candidate for this position will have a MS or PhD degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Sciences, or related field as well as 0-5 years experience in developing new product formulas/new technologies for personal care products, color cosmetics, or other related industries. Strong hands-on product formulation experience is a must.  He/she must have a proven track record of driving innovation in a competitive industry within a fast paced research environment as evidenced by analytical, project management skills, new product introductions, patents, publications and/or novel product claims. He/she must be a true team player with strong communication, interpersonal skills as well as a demonstrated ability to multitask and work within a matrix organizational structure. Experience in reviewing and assessing intellectual property and adept in reviewing patents will be a plus.
