General Summary Senior Brand Manager, Innovation & Business Development, is a very strategic innovation & business development position in our foodservice business requiring a dynamic innovation marketer. This person will be responsible for developing business growth strategies, identifying future growth opportunity areas/innovation platforms for both existing and new brands, generating ideas within agreed upon growth areas/platforms, and development & commercialization of agreed upon ideas. The position requires working closely with base brand managers, technical experts, market research and outside agencies in identifying the white spaces that the company can successfully leverage. Partner with Market Research, Brand Business Units and Research and Development to identify consumer and customer insights/ trends and technologies that provide impetus for new product and platform development. 2. Determine size and financial attractiveness of new growth areas, by working closely with Finance and Market Research, in order to prioritize allocation of resources to these opportunities. 3. Identify new product (e.g., packaging, equipment, merchandise, sourcing, etc.) approaches by conducting competitive SWOT analyses in order to create a proprietary advantage for the company in tapping new growth areas. 4. Write and submit project charters and/or business cases in order to secure resource commitments (e.g., budget, personnel and business systems) from Senior Management that will enable execution of initiatives. 5. Assess in-market potential of innovation concepts. Minimize duplication of effort across business units/ divisions by utilizing effective communication and collaboration skills. 6. Work closely with Research and Development to develop new products or product improvements in order to meet marketing objectives (e.g., extending usage, bringing in new users, etc.) by writing and gaining approval to product development briefs. 7. Develop and coordinate cross-functional project plans and critical paths by utilizing project planning tools (e.g., MS project, periodic team meetings) in order to ensure timely in-market commercialization of innovations. Assures training, coaching, performance reviews, and career improvement opportunities for direct report(s) in an effort to increase performance and achieve short and long term business objectives. . P&L Management : Develop forecasts & deliver financial objectives . Brand Marketing Strategy: Knowledge of information used to define brand strategic corridors and develop appropriate business solutions for market activation. . Marketing Innovation: Ability to identify and develop innovative ideas (e.g., product, packaging, merchandise, activations) in order to create a proprietary advantage for the company . Marketing Research Application: Ability to shape consumer needs insights and leverage research results into actionable marketing and business building initiatives. . Trend Analysis: Knowledge of and ability to gather, interpret, connect, and apply multiple societal/ consumer/industry/ technical/design insights and trends to be used in the development of marketing strategies and programs. . Data Analysis/Interpretation: Ability to convert general data and findings into applied, specific information and suggestions that add value to business planning. . Project Management: Ability to manage projects to ensure successful delivery (on time, within budget, meeting agreed upon success criteria) to establish clear goals and accountabilities. Also includes the ability to develop project plans, allocate resources, identify potential issues/risks and develop contingency plans. Experience required: Minimum 5 years of brand management, brand/ business development or marketing innovation experience with a CPG company. Prior foodservice experience is desirable but not required.
