Responsibilities: * Gather requirements to determine target audience and objectives; analyze user and business needs; and set scope and interface strategies * Develop user scenarios, navigational structures, sitemaps, user/task flows, functional templates and prototypes * Design and build web pages using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, ActionScript, Illustrator, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Visio, XML, and XSLT * Conduct usability testing, design reviews, style guidelines development, and presentations on style standards and usability heuristics * Effectively communicate research findings, conceptual ideas, and design rationale both verbally and visually * Collaborate with internal project teams to ensure that an explicit user experience is maintained throughout project execution

Qualifications: * A comprehensive, online portfolio of work specific to interaction design and information architecture * Bachelors degree * 4 or more years experience creating top-tier, dynamic user interfaces for complex enterprise web applications * Proficiency with Web standards, including XHTML, CSS, Web Accessibility, and Section 508 * Good understanding of the (enterprise) software lifecycle and the role of UX/UI design throughout the software life cycle * Expertise in Adobe Photoshop, Dreamweaver (or similar) applications required * Demonstrated familiarity with user-centered design process and usability best practices * Evidence of continuing education in fields of usability and user-centered design * Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to multi-task * Well honed presentation skills This position is located in a Metro-accessible DC location.
