Functions as an independent statistical and operational consultant in a variety of clinical project/studies phases. Demonstrates and shares expert technical knowledge and leadership acquired through comprehensive experience in one or more areas of specialization acquired through comprehensive experience. Leads broad-based projects and/or complex multiple-protocol projects. Manages project responsibilities independently and with consistent superior quality. Demonstrates superior collaborative and communications skills; interacts effectively and confidently with a variety of types of individuals, including programmers, statisticians, medical personnel, public and private sector customers-including state/federal agency officials. Provides mentoring and serves as a resource for less experienced statisticians and/or programmers and other professionals. Coordinates and provides technical presentations on topics relevant to statistics and statistical operations at internal meetings. Provides technical presentations to a variety of external audiences. Represents the functional group in internal and external business development discussions related to current and future projects and publications. Contributes to the thought process of endpoint selection and study design. Writes statistical text for study reports, abstracts, and clinical publications, methods sections for incorporation into abstracts, proposals and final statistical reports. Independently and proactively assesses how clinical project results fit into the context of results from similar projects in a broader field. Serves as a resource for other statisticians about a broad spectrum of analysis methods. Responsibilities include the analytical design for a broad range of data, including the identification of and recommendation of the most appropriate statistical procedures for evaluation of outcome of studies. Requires the use of a wide variety of statistical procedures including but not limited to categorical data analysis, exploratory and graphical methods, analysis of variance, correlation analysis, multiple linear regression, time series analysis, logistic regression, survival analysis, spatial analysis, and non-parametric methods. Additional responsibilities include support for the preparation of peer-reviewed publications; serving as primary and/or co-author on publications when applicable; and contribution as a statistical reviewer and editor for other manuscripts, analytic papers, produced by the professional staff. Will collaborate with other Senior Scientific staff and their teams in developing standardized and reliable approaches in statistical applications. Position may be located in our Columbia or Easton, Maryland Offices. Experience in public health utilizing statistical principles, data analysis, and computing required. Position requires a minimum of a doctoral degree in biostatistics and 6 years of relevant experience. Experience as a lead statistician on clinical projects that have provided high quality end products on time, and prior supervision and/or guidance of less experienced employees required.
