Job No:  2009-0483Q Job Title: Research Assistant II Department: Biology Grade/Level: 07$  26,657.00--  $  34,454.00 Date Posted: June 11, 2009 The Research Assistant II will perform quantitative experiments in both the field and laboratory under the supervision of Gina Wimp. Applicant will perform field biology experiments that require knowledge of the set-up and maintenance of enclosures, as well as the stocking and maintenance of laboratory mesocosms. Applicant will assist in the design of experiments, execute protocols, record data clearly, analyze and interpret data. Applicant will also be responsible for laborartory support duties including, but not limited to, ordering of supplies, maintenance of equipment, record keeping, and supervision of undergraduate researchers. Applicant should have experience with arthropod taxonomy, field biology methods, experimental design, arthropod rearing techniques, plant propagation and greenhouse management, and the preparation of plant and arthropod samples for elemental and stable isotope analyses. Minimum requirements: Must have a Bachelors degree in Biology or Ecology and work experience with manipulative field/greenhouse experiments with a willingness to learn more. Coursework in Entomology and/or experience with arthropod taxonomy is required. Familiarity with basic principles of experimental design and analysis is a plus. Attention to detail and meticulous record keeping abilities are essential. Ability to wrok in a group setting with good communication skills is important. This is a term position ending May 26, 2010.
