Job No: 2009-0473D Job Title: Literacy Coach/Intervention Specialist Department: School of Nursing & Health Studies - Administration Grade/Level: 09$ 34,608.00-- $ 44,990.40 Date Posted: July 14, 2009 The Literacy Coach will provide in-classroom support to pre-K teachers in low income areas of the District of Columbia who are involved in a professional development program aimed at improving language and literacy environment in the classroom, and ultimately improving childrens language and literacy development. In addition to classroom learning, participants in the program will be visited on the job weekly by a literacy coach who will observe, provide feedback, and model appropriate teaching strategies. Bachelors degree with language development experience, literacy, early development; early education, elementary education, psychology or related degree. Proficiency in Spanish highly desirable.
