Job No:  2009-0444S Job Title: Research Assistant II Department: Endocrinology Grade/Level: 07 Date Posted: June 05, 2009 The Research Assistant supports the research efforts of Dr. Soldin and will provide an additional technologist to perform tests in the Bio-analytical Core Laboratory. An experienced clinical technologist who is specialized in tandem Mass Spectrometry will perform routine Mass spectrometric analyses for the GCRC investigators and develop new methods when needed.

Will also educate clients by providing information concerning HIV/AIDS; Performs tests, assays, and procedures appropriate to the project following specific research protocols; perform biochemical and molecular biological examination of biological samples, e.g. gene DNA sequencing, purification of RNA from cell, PCR and tissue culture; develop new tests using tandem mass spectrometry.

Incumbent will also perform tests on study sample using tandem mass spectrometry, maintain progress notes, daily logs of patient contacts, keep track of service and record and report results by maintaining and updating specific database, logs, and application to the unit/area of research.

Bachelor degree with 4 years of tandem mass spectrometry experience; must have the ability to conduct quality control, proficiency testing, chart results, order chemicals etc.
