Job No: 2009-0373S Job Title: Project Manager/Research Assistant IV Department: Rheumatology, Immunology and Allergy Grade/Level: 09 Date Posted: July 23, 2009 The Research Assistant supports the research efforts of Dr. James Baraniuk and will act as liaison between study patient and regulatory affairs for Dr. Baraniuk. This position will over other research assistants and a student to carry all out all administrative and clinical needs for Dr. Baraniuk. Manages administrative aspects of the lab and grants including standard operating procedures, monthly billing, purchasing, grant preparation, regulatory submissions and updates, IRB requests and submissions, budgets and contracts issues. Works in close contact with Scientific Director/Post-Doctoral Fellow and supervises research assistants and students. Submits all necessary forms to GCRC, Dept of Med, Clinical Trials Office, etc as necessary to facilitate research patient participation. Works with research assistants and post-doctoral fellows to handle study participants from recruitment to follow-up: recruits and pre-screens participants, completes detailed, complex scheduling, prepares all necessary consent forms and questionnaires (both online and on paper), is knowledgeable in and can assist with clinical testing, follows-up with participants as appropriate. Interacts with patients extensively by phone, email, and in person. Research responsibilities/duties related to entry, maintenance, analysis and publication of data. Masters degree with . 3-5 years experience working in both laboratory and clinical forums. Clinical experience may include human relations, analytical tasks, and research to define areas of pertinent information for the Principal Investigator. Must demonstrate excellence in patient interaction. Candidate must also possess demonstrated skill in communication and organization for lab/office management. Supervisory skills and experience a must. Can substitute additional experience for Masters Degree. Skilled in using various software application that can ( i.e. spreadsheets, relational databases, and graphics packages) assemble, manipulate and format data and report. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, Google and other online application suites. Proficiency in statistical analysis software is preferred. Must have excellent written and communications skills. Must be able to work well under pressure and with a diverse population. Must be able to multi-task and prioritize work load, handle difficult situations and interact with the senior leadership as well as general constituency. The candidate must be able to assist with basic laboratory duties including environmental health safety, cleaning, troubleshooting, and maintenance tasks.
