Job Title Vice President Job Location Fairfield, NJ Date Posted 5/29/2009 Job Type Full-Time Regular Position Id 2009-18 Job Description Reporting Relationships: The Vice President of Business Development & Consulting will report to Stephen Johnson, the Executive Vice President of the Healthcare Solutions Group. Mr. Johnson reports to the President of the Market Information business segment. The President reports to the CEO of the global IRI organization. Responsibilities: The Vice President, Business Development & Consulting will occupy a broad-based, strategic and prominent position within the Healthcare Solutions Group and the overall IRI organization. He/she will combine strong consulting acumen with sales skills to "own" business development for IRIs fast growing Rx manufacturer and retail pharmacy practice areas as. His/her primary responsibility will be to identify and win new Rx business. To do this, the Vice President will leverage IRIs existing Rx manufacturer/retail client roster as well as their previous industry contacts. Additionally, the Vice President will manage, lead and grow collaborative partnerships with third-party vendors and will develop and execute business plans to better capitalize on Rx, OTC and HBC synergies. Client business issues will vary. The Vice President will manage multiple sales/engagement cycles concurrently giving them excellent variety and exposure across multiple areas including issues related to Rx-OTC switching, the impact of DTC advertising and assisting their clients position themselves for the consumer/business impact of current economic and political trends. OTC issues will include private label mitigation, go-to-market strategy, brand health, price and promotion optimization, the impact of social media and the impact of labeling and store placement requirements. In all cases, the Vice President will focus on manufacturer/consumer dynamics versus manufacturer/doctor dynamics Key points of client interface extend to all levels, up to the Executive suite. Key functional interface will occur within Marketing, Brand Management and Market Research on the manufacturer side, and on the retail pharmacy side, key points of functional interface include Category Management, Market Research and Merchandising. From an internal perspective, he/she will work across the IRI organization to ensure that the right strategies and objectives are in place to drive current and future growth. Key areas of internal interface include: the Consulting & Innovation group, the Modeling & Analytic Solutions group, the Consumer & Shopper Insights group, Strategic Solutions, Technology and the broader Market Information organization. Other areas of responsibility include: participating in the ideation, development and launch of new solutions; participating in the enhancement/positioning of current product offerings; contributing to or authoring white papers, speaking at relative industry events; and assisting with the development of sales materials. Other responsibilities: . Work with HSG/IRI team members to identify and pursue client prospects . Develop and lead client penetration efforts . Develop/maintain HSGs client relationships through a combination of effective client service, project management, quality assurance and value-added analysis . Achieve annual revenue commitments . Maintain accurate revenue forecast for current and future quarters; manage a pipeline . Manage client engagement by preparing status/project reports, and providing operational advice Current economic/political trends have given IRI an incredible opportunity to help our clients position themselves for the post-crisis and new political consumer landscape. (}}Work(}}Images(}}cleardot.gif" Requirements:(}}Work(}}Images(}}cleardot.gif" - Ten or more years of experience within one or more of the environments below-a blend is ideal: o Marketing role within an Rx manufacturer o Rx research supplier focused on the use of longitudinal patient level content o The Rx practice of a top-tier consulting company - Rx industry expertise--deep understanding of the Rx space, issues and trends; OTC experience is an important plus - Deep experience with the Rx/DTC dynamic versus the Rx/physician dynamic - Brilliance with needs assessment; expert at ascertaining the root cause of client pain points versus symptoms - Working knowledge of patient panels versus physician panels - A consultative approach with regard to scoping client issues within a project framework, managing the development of solutions and the delivery solutions/insights in an impactful and actionable manner and in such a way so as to have material impact on client strategy - Analytical orientation-market research experience is a plus but is not required - Strong financial/operational skills/discipline - Energetic, self-motivated, pioneering and entrepreneurial style. - Proven ability to effectively self-prioritize goals/tasks and maintain focus in fast-changing, ambiguous environments - Executive poise and presence - Hunger to build and exceed revenue targets. Previous sales experience is not required - Demonstrated leadership acumen-especially for cross-functional project teams - Undergraduate degree is required. Advanced degree is a plus
