Business Title Enterprise Architect, Data Requisition ID 17618BR Job Category Information Technology Locations USA - Princeton, NJ Shift 1 Job Posting The Data Integration Architect will have overall responsibility for the development, implementation and ongoing management of the governance and operational processes needed to establish an Enterprise Data Integration Architecture function within Global IT. The Data Integration Architect performs data analysis, design, development, implementation, integration and extension within the enterprise for both internally and externally sourced data repositories. Provide senior technical leadership, guidance, and support in the design, development, and deployment of complex data architectures. Specific emphasis will be focused on Data Warehousing, Data Integration, ETL, EAI, EII and Master Data Management technologies (including CDI and PDI). Regular interaction and presentation to key executives and stakeholders requires very strong interpersonal and professional skills. Key to success in this position will require the appropriate balance of technical, business and operational experiences to define the appropriate linkages between all three and establish an architectural framework that provides an IT platform from which Covance can move to "IT offense". The Data Integration Architect will interact with senior Application Development and Support managers as well as senior Operations staff frequently engaging the necessary subject matter expertise as required. In addition, the position will have frequent interactions with the Global IT Leadership Team and their respective direct reports. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS . Lead teams in developing Data Integration Strategies and Roadmaps for the client . Understand the client environment (technical and business) and requirements and provide input to the project, account, and system teams. . Participate with business architects and analysts in defining business requirements. . Translate business requirements into documented data, application, and infrastructure requirements. . Define and apply common best practices for the data architecture and communicate them to the user and development communities. . Define and implement Data Quality programs. . Define and implement Master Data Management strategies and roadmaps. . Develop conceptual logical and physical data models that reflect the requirements. WORKING CONDITIONS . Professional level with some evening and weekend work expected. . 25% travel required in the US and internationally. Education/Qualifications Required: . B.A./B.S. in related discipline. Preferred: . M.B.A./M.S. in related discipline. . Experience in and detailed knowledge of the Drug Development process. Experience Required: . 10+ years of IT experience. . 5+ years of experience with data architecture, with a focus on Data Warehousing, Data Integration, ETL, EAI, EII and Master Data Management technologies (including CDI and PDI). . 5+ years experience with BI tools configuration, support and administration (e.g., Business Objects). . Strong hands-on Data Warehouse and Data Mart design and build experience, Oracle Database design and tuning experience, on-line transactional processing (OLTP) systems and on-line analytical processing (OLAP) database implementations. . Deep understanding and hands-on data modeling and data structuring experience . Integration experience with multiple platforms and data sources. Mainframes, mid-range machines, UNIX, LINUX, WIntel, etc. Hierarchical, network & relational DBMS, flat files, digital images, audio, etc. . Ability to work equally well in software architect, designer, or implementer roles. . Excellent communication, presentation and customer service focus.
