The position will expand our currently under-staffed department. In large part the increase in work-load is do to the Eclipse ERP implementation and currently not staffed properly to support our end-user base. Summary of primary duties and responsibilities: The successful candidate will work with our server management team. The duties are to manage our Eclipse AIX ERP environment(s), and to provide strategic direction from a UNIX / Universe perspective. In addition the candidate must be able to work cross-platform with our client and network management teams both locally and regionally. Education, prior work experience, special skills, knowledge: Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, 5-10 years work experience in a medium-large sized company (500m-700m), AIX Unix, HACMP, EMC Clarion, Legato, NT 2003, systems design architecture. The successful candidate will also come from a fast growth paced business with high I.T. expansion. Electrical Distribution on similar business background is a plus. Working environment: The position is located at the company’s Shared Service Center. AIX Administrator JOB DESCRIPTION: We currently have an opportunity for a UNIX/AIX System Administrator with experience working in a 24 x 7 computing environment in a medium-large organization. With moderate supervision, must be able to successfully install, configure and monitor AIX operating systems on IBM pSeries servers. Strong shell scripting skills required. HMC and DLPAR experience preferred. In a busy team environment, will support enterprise servers local and remote. Excellent communication skills are a must. POSITION PURPOSE: *Install, enhance, and configure system software and utilities without negative impact to the application and production environment * Provide technical guidance to the Systems Support and Operations staff * Monitor and maintain IBM Universe databases in production and development environments. RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Under moderate supervision, installs, enhances, and corrects system software and utilities. 2. Provides the Systems and Development staff with technical expertise, tools, utilities and programs assisting in the efficient development of application systems. 3. Provides technical expertise to the Systems Support staff as required 4. Monitors overall systems performance and utilization; makes and implements recommendations as necessary 5. Monitor overall performance of Universe database. 6. Evaluates the technical performance of newly acquired/generated products or systems with appropriate testing and analysis to minimize risk to production systems. 7. Maintains an up-to-date knowledge of computer technology, including hardware, software and data communications. Make technical evaluations and recommendations regarding new and innovative techniques. 8. IBM AIX version 5.2 to 6.1, LPAR, DLPAR, HMC, WorkLoad Manager,Samba, VSIFAX, NFS, SSH 9. EMC storage, PowerPath REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent. 2. 5-10 years experience in data processing. 3. 5-10 years as an UNIX/AIX System Administrator 4. Ability to be on-call 24-hours to provide emergency service to restore the systems to production upon failure 5. Good communication skills in technical and non-technical topics. 6. Working knowledge in use and organization of data structures, operating system theory, procedural languages, compilers, and system utilities 7. Knowledge of computer systems performance monitoring and utilization. 8. Working knowledge of data processing technology. 9. Working production experience with IBM Universe database
