Position Purpose: Provide comprehensive support for performance and capacity as well as problem determination of capacity issues. Works closely with FET - Tandem System Support, Unix System Support, Wintel Support, and EFT - Application Development, Production Support and Application Support to ensure that new software or hardware functions as needed to meet established performance objectives. Pro-actively monitors and recommends changes to configurations and applications to ensure capacity / performance is maintained. In addition to capacity planning, performance analysis, and problem determination, the associate in this position assists with necessary training and guidance for all aspects of performance and capacity and provides support to others throughout the organization. Nature and Scope: Monitor system resource utilization and tune as needed to ensure adequate performance and capacity objectives are met. Assist with planning future resource requirements to achieve established performance and capacity objectives. Assist with problem determination of complex or difficult problems. Assist the Application Development teams, as needed, with problem determination. Comprehensive diagnostic, system performance and capacity planning skills are required so the associate can perform necessary technical tasks. Associate should be capable of performing assigned tasks with no or minimal supervision. Minimal travel and working long hours may be required to adequately support client needs and sharing of information with other units throughout Fiserv. Responsibilities: 1. Monitor system resource utilization to ensure availability, performance and capacity objectives, as required by clients and management. 2. Monitor applications resource utilization to ensure availability, performance and capacity objectives, as required by clients and management. 3. Monitor applications attributes to ensure performance and capacity objectives, as required by clients and management. 4. Develop capacity and performance models for planning. 5. Analyze capacity / performance data and models. Recommend and develop plans for upgrades and changes to applications software /configurations 6. Perform installation, maintenance and problem determination for capacity and performance, or automation related software as necessary to achieve goals established by the Production Support and Services Manager. 7. Assist other analysts and systems support, Application Support, Operations and Application Development as necessary with performance issues, capacity issues and problem determination. Qualifications: Education: Bachelors degree in Computer Science or Computer related field required. Equivalent work experience may be substituted for education requirement. Job Related Experience: Minimum of three years experience with Tandem systems, Unix systems and Wintel systems, Experience with Data modeling and statistical analysis. Performance and related system software in a large online transaction facility is required. This includes experience with problem determination, trace analysis, performance tuning and capacity planning. Functional Area Skills/ Knowledge/Abilities: . Comprehensive understanding of system performance and capacity planning required. . Strong written and oral communications skills required. . Strong project management skills required. . Ability to work beyond standard hours and minimal travel.
