Food Chemist Tracking Code 853 Job Description Purpose of Positiona Provide Technical support services and technical governance for Food related business activities. Objective * Provide technical, client and Business Line support to the Americas region and Global Food Business Line as it relates to Technical Services, Technical support, Capacity Planning and/or Technical Governance. * Responsible to develop and ensure the integrity and consistency of the test methods within the Division.aa Major Roles & Responsibilities * Develop and/or review internal Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Methods and Work Instructions, Standard Interpretation Practices etc for the Food business line * Development of related marketing materials (service sheets, FAQs, training and technical bulletins) relating to Food topics in the region. * Serve as liaison between US clients and BV Global technical testing facilities. Assist in setting company direction for technical interpretations. (As applicable per lab practices). * Prepares written communication to internal and external clients regarding administrative and technical issues, providing direction as needed. * Provides technical consultation-letters of opinion, obtaining regulatory information, conducting training, etc. (As applicable per lab practices). * Proactive / continuous improvement of department procedures and communicates those procedures to other locations, as applicable. * Identify, troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, providing direction to other lab personnel. * Assist in making final technical decisions. * Provide technical opinions / recommendations / interpretations pertaining to compliance, requests, testing issues directly to clients or other BV locations. * Maintain awareness of industry best practices/standards and provide technical expertise to clients and colleagues in areas of analytical analyses, chemistry and consumer products. Share with colleagues and customers through technical opinions, interpretations and recommendations * Develop and conduct technical training sessions in the Americas region both to internal and external individuals related to Food Analytical services. Coordinated with other regional team members for global consistency * Lead technical portions of Food related meetings, presentations and seminars and develop and deliver Food training presentations for client and supplier seminars as needed. * Understand and interpret standards for appropriate test methods, providing direction to staff and clients, as required. Required Skills * Extensive knowledge of Food testing concepts, processes, and equipment and the demonstrated ability to implement them * Client interaction skills: Demonstrated ability to work with customers, determine their requirements, secure additional business, define and assist in solving problems, and generally ensure their total satisfaction with BV * Problem solving skills * Effective oral and written communications skills including the ability to deliver presentations to in-house and client/vendor audiences. Strong training and presentation skills. * Ability to work well under pressure and handle crisis situations * Ability to prioritize, manage and or delegate tasks across various teams, appropriate staff, and perform required follow up * Highly developed organizational and interpersonal skills. Personable, with ability to work well independently, as well as in a team environment * Ability to interpret regulations and standards. * Strong computer skills. Medium to high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Lotus Notes and statistical packages * Familiarity with laboratory instrumentation, equipment and Food testing. * Technical aptitude, the ability to quickly assimilate and assess new information and develop plans to capitalize or react to it * Ability to effectively communicate with and foster productive relationships with retailers, brands vendors, factories, and industry leaders Required Experience * Minimum of a BS technical degree, preferably in Chemistry or related discipline * At least five plus years of food testing or other relevant experience Job Location Buffalo, NY, US.
