Network Administrator + DBA/DM Admin
The network administrator plans, installs, operates, optimizes, supports and maintains the network operating systems, network hardware and network applications used by the information systems.
This primary responsibility of this position involves design, operation, and maintenance of all Databases which includes ownership of the firm’s enterprise document management system (currently Open Text 5.2.1-HF1). Additionally the firm has multiple mission critical systems in a multi-domain, Active Directory environment, supporting Windows 2003, Exchange 2003, Postini, Exclaimer, XoSoft, SQL Servers, IDERA (SQL Monitoring Tool), Document Management System, VMware, eFax, Blackberry, Trend Products, CommVault, IPR, DataDomain, NetIQ, EMC SAN …etc.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Document Management System: Design, install, administer, optimize, and support the firm's document management system including databases, application services, and desktop client software. The current system is OpenText 5.2.1 HF1 using DOCSFusion, CyberDOCS and Verity/SearchServer full text indexing. 2. All Other Databases: Support the SQL databases for several smaller network applications. Install, maintain, support and ensure the integrity of these application databases. 3. SQL Monitoring: Monitor SQL Server health using available solutions (for e.g. IDERA etc) and proactively respond to symptoms and situations. 4. Documentation: Maintain up to date, through documentations for all responsible systems, processes and issues. Provide second and third tier support and written documentation for users and application support as needed. 5. Support the network administration efforts for the Windows 2003 server network. Build servers, troubleshoot errors, administer user and computer accounts, and maintain associated security and backup systems. Cross-train within network specialties to provide backup for other administrators within the Network services group. 6. Recommend policy, procedure, and process changes to firm's decision makers. Research and evaluation of new software, hardware and technological resources. Ensure the firm is up-to-date with current industry standards and practices. 7. On a periodic, on-call basis, provide 24x7 break-fix support for all of the firm’s technical operations. 8. Responsibilities associated with the job may change from time to time in accordance with business needs; incumbent may be required to perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• 3 to 5 years, full-time network administration experience in a multi-site environment is required. • 1 to 3 years, database management experience required. • 1 to 3 years, document management administration experience preferred. • Complete working knowledge of Windows 2003, SQL (all versions), IIS, account and file security, storage technologies, networking (TCP/IP, WINS, DHCP, DNS, and domain relationships/trusts, Active Directory ….etc). • Must demonstrate initiative and a sense of ownership with various projects and problem-solving situations • 4 year degree strongly preferred. • Microsoft Windows 2000, 2003 Server certifications preferred. • Experience/Certification with DM5 preferred. • Strong interpersonal and professional skills required. • Strong writing and verbal communication abilities required.
