Director - Financial Analysis & Systems

Responsible for the oversight and management of quality financial analyses of the Inpatient Service Locations in assigned area.  Activities include budget preparation; analyses of financial performance, budget and/or benchmark variances and financial position and financial forecasts and feasibility and related reporting.

Lead creation of “service culture” and best practice driven organization, developing analyst staff and improving process efficiency. 

Supervise and direct Financial Analysts who support Business Operations in achieving Business Excellence goals.

Provide direct support to the Area CFO as needed on financial analysis of major business decisions.  Communicate directly with Executive Management on confidential matters.

In addition to offering level of service and communications consistent with departmental standards, interact with operational leadership on all matters affecting business performance.

RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. Accountable for all human resource functions of employees in department.  Hire, supervise and train Financial Analysis staff.  Identify staff training and professional development needs and provide appropriate guidance.  Conduct performance reviews.

2. Oversee the overall department workflow based on priorities and resources. Establish and monitor performance criteria for the department. Ensure that closing schedules and the quality standards set by upper management are met.

3. Analyze financial performance and key performance drivers.  Create and maintain financial models to improve the predictability of results.  Support the development of long-range economic models with alignment to strategic and operating plans.

4. On behalf of Financial Analysts, evolve forward looking metrics and forecasts to more accurately predict future financial performance.  Ensure key supporting analysis includes sensitivity analysis and scenario planning.

5. In partnership with Operations, help to drive improvements in analysis and reporting tools that increase focus, predictability, awareness, and integrity.

6. Establish and cultivate effective partnerships with operational leaders and finance peers.

7. Monitor and assist in the budget preparation for each owned and managed service location.

8. Assist in the completion of packaging of financial results on a monthly basis.

9. Review opportunities for improvements identified by Financial Analysts to consolidate trends across all Area service locations.   

10. Coordinate information gathering with other corporate and area departments to assist in implementing best practice processes.

11. Prepare pro forma and/or impact analysis to support recommendation for change/improvements.

12. Coordinate all special projects and Corporate Office requests.

13. Develop consistent and efficient approaches to resolution of problems that will benefit the Company as a whole.

14. Monitor compliance with policies and procedures and resolve policy interpretation issues for customers and the department.

15. Participate in special projects as needed.

1. Bachelors Degree required; M.A. or M.B.A. preferred.

2. At least seven to ten years of experience in healthcare administration, financial accounting or public accounting.

3.      Extensive knowledge of financial systems and software required.

4. Proven track record in analytical and performance improvement success.

5. Supervisory experience required.

6. Must be flexible in scheduling priorities to meet changing business needs and able to travel as needed.

7. Must have a valid driver’s license and provide own vehicle when traveling.
