Senior Application Developer

Responsible for the design and development of enterprise Java applications assuring that the technical design of delivered solutions matches the defined software architecture and also the functional requirements in terms of usability, efficiency, reliability, availability, security and scalability.

Responsibilities:
• Senior Java technical resource on development projects.
• Design and deliver solutions in accordance with the defined Technical Architecture.
• Review designs and software developed within team to ensure it is in accordance with the defined Technical Architecture.
• Ensure delivered solutions are able to scale to the agreed user concurrency and maintain high availability.
• Liaise with infrastructure and data support services ensuring network, security and database integrity for all software systems developed by Software Development.
• Provide technical assistance on projects to peers and junior staff.
• Assist in the establishment of and follow design standards, design patterns and best practices.
• Provide technical expertise in the diagnosis and resolution of issues, including the determination and provision of workaround solutions.
• Assist in the production of estimates for work ensuring estimates are realistic and achievable.
• Coaching & development of developers to maximize their full potential.
• Takes full ownership of all assigned tasks ensuring objectives are met.
• Meets expected standards such as accuracy, thoroughness and correctness in all assigned work.
• Provide documentation for all appropriate levels of the software development life cycle.

Qualifications:
• College Degree in Computer Science or related discipline, database modules undertaken as part of degree desired.
• Minimum of 3 years experience in software development.
• Strong Java experience.
• Experience in PL/SQL and stored procedures for Oracle.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
