SQL Server DBA 2nd Shift

Hours:
5:00 pm to 1:00 am

On-call:
There will be about 2 to 3 others involved in the rotation


Support and maintain SQL Databases and ensure their performance, availability, and security, focusing efforts during non-business hours.
Major Responsibilities:
Ÿ Ensure availability and performance of all databases.
Ÿ Work with the team to ensure that the associated hardware resources allocated to the databases are adequate and to ensure high availability and optimum performance.
Ÿ Establish and maintain DBA-related Operational Handbook for off hour activities.
Ÿ Install, update, and patch (when necessary) Database software.
Ÿ Review all changes on databases including review of the relevant documentation.
Ÿ React and resolve all database related warning and alarms from database monitoring system.
Ÿ Escalate and manage problems to resolution through Technical Support, Development Teams and/or third parties as appropriate.
Minimum Education & Certifications Required:
Ÿ Must have Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience & Skills Required:
Ÿ 5+ years Proven Database Administration experience.

Ÿ 3+ years Experience of managing multiple RDBMS on large systems.

Ÿ Experience of working in a team that delivers a high availability service.

Ÿ Practical experience in monitoring and tuning to provide a high availability service.

Ÿ Experience of managing multiple MS SQL 2000 & 2005 on large systems.

Ÿ Strong self-sufficiency and initiative working on Database projects.
