A client of ours located just outside Philadelphia is looking to bring on a very experienced Virtualization Systems Engineer to their team. This person should be a Citrix/VMware guru and have recent experience performing upgrades in Citrix and VMWare ESX 3.5
The Virtualization Systems Engineer will work closely with the Team Lead in the design, implementation support and administration of the corporate Virtualization strategy - a scalable, highly available and flexible architecture. This role will leverage the engineer*s Presentation Virtualization background (Citrix, Terminal Services etc) as well as their experience with Server and Systems Virtualization (VMware, Xen, Red hat Enterprise Linux) to support the growing virtualization infrastructure. The Virtualization Systems Engineer will evaluate new technologies; develop Virtualization best practices and standards.
The current environment consists of Citrix Presentation Server for both local and Regional office users, and VMware ESX 3.5 in the Data Center with upgrades to both environments scheduled before the end of the year.
Major Responsibilities: Responsibilities include and are not limited to:
* Design, Implementation and Administration of global Citrix Environment.
* Identify and Provide solutions to the business using Citrix technology and solutions.
* Monitor the Citrix environment with native tools or 3rd party utilities
* Administration of Server Virtualization Infrastructure * VMware ESX 3.5
* Provide Capacity Analysis, trending and Reporting for Virtualization Infrastructure
* Assist in qualifying new system resource requirements that are to be deployed into the infrastructure.
* Lead and assist in developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for areas of responsibility and as assigned.
* Bring innovative ideas and change to the Team and Operations as a whole by *thinking out of the box* to address issues affecting the business.
* All other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Minimum Education & Certifications Required:
-Bachelor*s Degree, 10+ years IT experience
-Citrix Certified Administrator or Citrix Certified Enterprise Administrator (CCEA)
-VMware Certified Professional (VCP) Desired but not required
Experience & Skills Required:
* Virtualization Technologies * applications, hypervisors, systems etc
* Experience with Citrix Technology solutions specifically * XenApp Architecture and EdgeSight
* Experience Designing , Implementing and Administering Highly Available/Failover, flexible, and load balanced environment for Virtualization * Citrix and VMware
* OS and Application provisioning methodologies
* Storage environments (SAN)
* VMware VI3 Suite * ESX 3.5, Virtual Center, VCB, H/A, DRS, ESX kernel command line.
* 3+ years supporting an enterprise Virtualization environment (Citrix and VMware)
* Experience with Virtualization performance and management strategies
* Experience supporting Windows 2003/2008, and back office applications (SQL, Exchange)
* Strong documentation and process skills
* Knowledge of enterprise systems monitoring solutions, as well as 3rd party virtualization monitoring solutions
