The candidate will be exposed to • cutting edge? technologies building BI Solutions including dashboards, scorecards and reports. Required Skills: Candidate must possess strong organizational, communication, and relationship skills. Must be proficient with Cognos 8 suite of products including; Report Studio, Analysis Studio, Powerplay and Framework Manager. Cognos SDK is a strong plus. Candidate must be able to function independently throughout the lifecycle of a project and also a strong • A? team player and flexible to adapt as the project evolves. Technical skills and abilities: * Four years minimum of Cognos experience / Five years minimum of related IT experience * Ability to manage Data Warehousing projects, design, reporting, and tracking performance metrics * Translate high-level Business Intelligence requirements to functional definitions, and ultimately to a technical design and implementation * Experience using webfocus a huge plus as some of the existing team members will need to be mentored in transitioning from webfocus to Cognos * Strong analytic, problem solving, and collaborative skills * Strong data modeling skills (Normalized and Multidimensional for Data Marts, including Star Schema, Snow-Flake Modeling, Fact and Dimensional Modeling) * Extensive knowledge in SQL programming / Store Procedures * Knowledge and experience working with Relational Databases such as Oracle, MS SQL, UDB * Familiarity with ETL Solutions * Ability to design, create, and refresh Powerplay cubes using Powerplay Transformer * Proficient in creating multi-prompt reports with drill-thru capabilities * Experience designing and developing charts, graphs and dashboards * Experienced in implementing Cognos Security * Working knowledge of life insurance business, terms, and processes a plus * Multi-tasking, able to manage and deliver multiple tasks within short timeframe * Experience in business requirements gathering * Experience using the ERwin data modeling tool a plus * Hands on experience with the following are also a plus -- Javascript/HTML/ DHTML/XML * Good written and verbal communication skills a must * Bachelors Degree required, Masters Degree preferred Job Responsibilities: * Manage a team of 4 developers * Design and develop executive dashboards, key performance indicators and other system solutions * Work with data architects to develop data models, design specifications, and metadata documentation * Design and create complex framework manager models * Design and develop drill-thrus, drill-downs/up * Participate in strategic planning of Cognos solutions * Lead reviews and proof of concepts (POCs) as new enhancements are made available to the Cognos platform * Assist in the development and architecting data warehouse initiatives and reporting needs for the business * Assist with the scheduling, distribution, bursting and refresh of reports * Create documentation and procedures with system deliverables, application design, and changes planned for production environment * Full life cycle methodology including change management processes and ensuring changes are properly tested and migrated to production * Provide subject matter expertise and guidance to less experienced staff members . Must be comfortable interacting with Senior Management and end-users This is a long term assignment and if the candidate does well, theyll be renewed at the end of the year for 2010.
