Principal Data Architect Job ID: 10809 Location: DC - Washington Full/Part Time: Full-Time Regular/Temporary: Regular Previous Page Responsibilities The Principal Data Architect(PDA) will work with the JDPO to identify, define, and create architecture artifacts associated with reference architectures, blueprints, patterns, information as a service, logical and physical information and data models, interaction diagrams, standards, technical stacks, governance, and technology obsolesce planning and management. This includes support of data governance, repository standards, information infrastructure, and core information management capabilities such as: master data management, metadata management, common information model creation/maintenance, ETL maintenance. The PDA will provide assistance in the policy, definition and implementation of net-centric enterprise data models and standards, information exchange requirements, common information modeling, logical and physical database designs, and cross system/database modeling and data transformation. The PDAs experience must include detailed knowledge of large enterprise initiatives providing net-centric data modeling and data architecture support to the business process teams, data stewards, developers, and users of the data. The PDA will be responsible for constructing and maintaining net centric enterprise and application data models, common information models and information exchange requirements and relationships between systems based on industry best practices for software solutions be implemented. The PDA is also responsible for the drafting of net centric architectural standards, data mapping and transformation standards, guidelines and policies. The overall goal is to assist the JDPO in building and maintaining the data architecture that will support interoperable business processes and business intelligence needs, and common understanding of semantics and ontology. Essential Functions: * Develop and maintain Business Information Model, Common Information Model, Innformation Exchange Architecture and Requirements for the various business functions within the organization. * Assess industry standards for information architectures and models, and where appropriate incorporate them into our information architecture standards. * Develop data management strategy and process around data governance, custody, stewardship and security. * Define and identify reference data, and provide strategy and process to harmonize Master Data creation and access across the enterprise. * Define a Meta-Data strategy to describe and administer data, and provide data lineage tracking ability. * Develop and maintain data interoperability standards and interfaces. * Develop processes for data migration and integration between systems. * Develop a strategy classify data for its most effective and efficient use. * Create processes for Data Life Cycle management. * Specify data validation, verification and reconciliation strategies. * Define processes for Data Virtualization, using Service-oriented technologies. * Define data workflow as it transforms into information. * Communicate with Business Stakeholders and Working groups. * Collaborate and communicate with team members in other areas of IT like Informatics, Data * Administration, and Technology Infrastructure. * Collaborate with other enterprise architecture domains to develop comprehensive solution architectures that include the information perspective. * Ability to matrix manage teams consisting of senior technologists and analysts from different groups within the organization . Qualifications Masters degree or greater in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering or related field, or 10 years of equivalent work experience may be substituted for a MS. * 15 years of information technology experience * 10 years of enterprise architecture experience * Experience in Net-Centric Data concepts, architecture and design patterns, Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), ERD, UML, Information architectures, and Information Exchange Requirements * Experience working in large organizations with geographically dispersed teams and complex technical environments * The ability to use charts and graphs to convey core architecture concepts as part of an oral presentation to the leadership team is required. (A review of architecture artifacts which contain charts that the architect has composed will be required as a part of the interview process) * Strong customer focus with a demonstrated ability to work seamlessly with business sponsors and technologists * Proven track record of implementing and actively managing fundamental information architecture frameworks, methodologies, and architectures * Change driver; significant experience in managing and driving change Highly effective in negotiation and resolution Business acumen Previous Page
