Data Center Operations Manager

Overview:
Manages data center operations group, including computer operations, data entry, data control, data processing, and operations analysis. Advises data center operations personnel concerning administrative procedures, technical problems, and priorities. Is responsible for hiring, firing, performance appraisals, and pay reviews of data center personnel. Typically reports to the Director of Data Center Operations or a MIS Manager. Usually requires a minimum of seven years of computer experience with at least one year of leadership responsibility.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Manages the activities of data processing operations personnel.
* Ensures that production schedules are met.
* Monitors and maintains quality control standards.
* Manages personnel activities (i.e. hires, fires, trains, coaches, appraises, rewards, motivates, disciplines, etc.).
* Oversees performance management system and pay program administration.

Determines information requirements and allocation of operating time of computer systems or line usage on hookups to service bureau.  Monitors and corrects equipment and programming malfunctions.
* Sets up and monitors reports of computer equipment, including peripherals.
* Ensures timely maintenance to minimize downtimes.

Keeps informed of new developments and trends; makes recommendations to senior management on desirable additions or replacements.

Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in business or computer science; post-graduate education and/or training desired. 7 to 10 years of computer experience with at least one year of leadership experience.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Some lifting up to 20 pounds required. Nature of job also requires considerable walking and arm movement.
