Responsibilities include: Working with current data warehouse operations team to understand the current DW architecture state and challenges experienced Defining a roadmap/design document for the new data integration architecture (ETL) that ensures flexibility, scalability, offshore development/support capability, and strong principles of audit, balance and control. Developing an architecture standards document for future code design, team based-development and code release management in the new architecture. Working with current data warehouse team to define a phased migration path from the old architecture/ETL code to new architecture/ETL product. Working with the project team to validate the scope and requirements for the incremental releases of the new and converted existing ETL jobs. Serving as a primary thought leader on the data integration tool (IBM Data Stage) and its capabilities. Working with the Lead Business Intelligence Architect to ensure that the next generation ETL architecture provides the data required to meet downstream business intelligence requirements for both internal company users as well as the company's Partners (external consumers) Working with portfolio development and sales teams to understand evolving market place requirements for data and ensure that the phased data integration rollout approach is aligned to meet those requirements. Working with department management to prioritize work and allocate funding on an annual basis to support each incremental phase of development and required capital expenditures for dev/test/production capacity. Ensuring vision, design and projects are in alignment with company business strategy and the company's Product Management vision. Working closely with product development project managers to define resources, estimates, project plans needed for future phases. During the execution of each phase, assume an active project roll and support development team leads during requirements, design, testing and implementation rollout. Providing hands-on problem-solving assistance with data integration and data profiling tools to team leads and developers. Working closely with the data warehouse operations team to ensure a smooth transition from new product development to production operation and support. Qualifications: Requirements: 10+ years of full life-cycle experience in Data Warehousing and ETL/Data Integration A successful track record of delivering complex data integration projects on time. Significant experience providing technical design review, development plan critique, code review, test plan/results review Deep experience with IBM DataStage is required - setup, configuration, design best practices, performance optimization, team based development approaches. Global data integration platform rollout experience (e.g. data integration from multiple regions in different time zones, character sets, and business rules) Interaction with senior executives to convey technical concepts and assist in messaging about benefits of next generation platform. Strong understanding of relational database concepts - data modeling (dimensional/snowflake), SQL, query optimization, data warehouse architecture Strong understanding of various data staging approaches for integrating data, persisting data for recovery/audit and loading a data warehouse. Strong experience with relational database technology supporting data warehouses/BI reporting (specific Oracle experience is preferred but not required) Some level of experience with reporting and analytics tools - OLAP tools, Business Objects, Cognos, Microstrategy Experience with Datastage on Linux/Unix platform. Knowledge of metadata technologies, techniques and approaches for capturing ETL metadata Knowledge of data profiling technologies, techniques and approaches for utilizing as part of upfront analysis and production control operations. Knowledge of service-oriented architecture and familiarity with using services to capture upstream events passed via an enterprise service bus into a data warehouse. eCommerce, Retail, Supply Chain Management experience preferred, but not required Experience estimating ETL development work and creating a matching resource plan. Strong leadership, communication and collaboration skills Ability to coordinate across multiple infrastructure groups and assist in deployment planning.
