The Systems Engineer will be responsible for maintaining DAU workstations and web/server based applications. The candidate will provide customer service/technical support to the federal government in level 1 helpdesk calls to level 3 hardware and software support of file servers, Windows 2003 Domain Controllers, MS Exchange servers and various other application support to include network device management and video equipment support. While this position is for a M-F daytime slot the individual should be able to cover night / weekend hours on occasion and work a flexible schedule on occasion to accommodate the needs of the customer. Required Skills * Ability to walk user through re-creating, troubleshooting, resolving, and documenting problems effectively * Ability to effectively diffuse irate customers * Ability to troubleshoot physical hardware and network connectivity issues, video equipment such as projectors, DVD players, video control systems such as AMX touch panel controllers * Must be detail oriented * Excellent written and verbal communication skills * extensive experience in an NT/Win2000/W2003 environment * in depth knowledge of TCP/IP, DHCP, Symantec Ghost * Experience providing technical support services to government clients * Working knowledge of software application, server, and network system security * Experience in supporting VTCs and ISDN connectivity * Ability and desire to learn new skills * Experience with software repackaging and deployment (SMS/SCCM) * Experience with scripting and system monitoring * Desktop support experience * Some travel required to DAU remote locations * Must be flexible on schedule to support clients needs Required Experience * The ideal candidate would have a bachelors degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in a technical field (e.g., management information systems, computer science, engineering, mathematics, physics, etc.). * An associates degree in a technical field, with related experience may be acceptable in lieu of a 4 yr degree. * Previous military service with job in Information Technology field may also substitute for 4 yr degree. * Microsoft and/or Cisco certification tracks preferred, minimum of A+, Net+ Job Location California, MD, US.
