Job title Senior Process Project Engineering Leader Req ID 4153BR Job category Engineering Sub-category Process Engineering Countries (State/Region) United States - New Jersey Location Wayne Role synopsis The Senior Process Project Engineering Leader is a key leadership role which assists the Americas Engineering Manager in delivery of engineering objectives in the region. The role manages key capital projects for the Region through all phases of the project including scoping, cost estimating, safety reviews, design, procurement, construction, commissioning, startup, and hand-over to facility management. Key accountabilities - Serves as manager of capital projects. - Develops scopes for large, strategic, capital, and supply chain strategy projects to support the Lubricant Business needs. - Has single point of accountability for leading large, general, and capital projects through all CVP stages of a project. These projects are major projects within a OU/FU that: (1) have a considerable impact on business performance, (2) materially impact the Supply Chain, (3) have very demanding schedules or (4) are highly complex, requiring well developed expertise in project leadership and project management. - Applies engineering principles to the design of lubricant processing facilities. - Leads the project team to develop the WBS (Work Breakdown Structure) and the project timeline. - Manages the human relations part of project teams including understanding the phases of development that new teams go through and using different leadership styles for each of the phases. - Recognizes and appropriately deploys the current skill levels of each of the project team members in the areas of: (1) the functional department they represent and (2) project management principles, tools and processes. - Uses different styles of leadership and coaching for each of these individuals to help develop them in these areas to perform the activities required by them on the project team. - Participate in GSC Regional Engineering Network. - Meets with the plant project leaders to coach / mentor them on project execution. - Provides coaching and mentoring to site engineering authorities within the envelope on how to implement and sustain IMS at the facility level. - Conducts or participates in peer assists within the envelope. - Provides process safety guidance to the network. - Manages engineering / construction projects. - Leads, coachs and manages contract and outside engineering resources. -Identifies engineering opportunities to improve operational & safety performance. Essential criteria & qualifications - Legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than the current employer. - A minimum of a Bachelors Degree. - The willingness and ability to travel up to 25% of the time in order to fulfill the responsibilities of this position. - A minimum of 10 years of experience in a mix of project, operations and process engineering. - A minimum of 5 years of experience in a functional area other than project management where expertise has been demonstrated. - A minimum of 3 years of experience in plant operations. - A minimum of 5 years of project management experience. - A minimum of 5 years of process engineering experience. - Formal training in project management is required. Desirable criteria & qualifications - A minimum of a Bachelors Degree in an engineering discipline, with a degree in Chemical Engineering preferred. - MBA Degree. - Chartered or professions Engineer certification. - Knowledge of QA processes and systems. - Lubricants experience. - Consumer packaged good experience. - Supply Chain experience.
