09-752: Network Engineer

Functional Responsibilities:  Performs design, installation, troubleshooting, and support of local- and wide-area network hardware, software and applications.  Can install and configure WAN and LAN hardware.  Oversees development and implementation of system specifications, designs, integration, testing, and documentation.  Develops risk management and mitigation strategy.  Ensures compliance with QA standards. Specific Responsibilities:  The objective of this task is to provide operations, maintenance, and training (OM&T) support to the Air Force Special Operations Commands (AFSOCs) SOF High Speed Agile Reachback Kit (SHARK).  This support includes maintaining SHARK equipment, training AFSOC users on SHARK operations, troubleshooting, and assisting in any questions related to SHARK at Hurlburt Air Force Base (AFB), and other AFSOC organizations that use SHARK equipment.  Specifically: 1.Provide OM&T support. 2.Schedule, perform, and document configuration management changes, as directed by HQ AFSOC. 3.Provide technical expertise and troubleshooting support. 4.Provide problem resolution support. 5.Provide support for upgrades, system, and hardware maintenance. 6.Provide exercise support, as required. 7.Provide for the integration and administration of network encryption devices. 8.Provide weekly, monthly and annual status reports. 9.Provide detailed technical reports on SHARK performance, utilization, and reliability, as requested by the government. 10.Identify and recommend SHARK enhancements REQUIREMENTS: A current high level government security clearance Bachelors degree preferred Eight years of telecommunications design and management experience, particularly on complex applications involving all phases of telecommunications network design, implementation, and analysis. Prior experience with the following RF and Satellite technologies: Inmarsat BGAN Terminal, EVDO/3G Cellular Technologies, and Thrane and Thrane Explorer 700 Terminals. Prior experience with the following Internet Protocol (IP) technologies, standards, and routing protocols: TCP/IP Quality of Service (QoS) and Class of Service (CoS) Prioritization, Virtual LANs (VLAN) , Virtual Private Networks (VPN), Power over Ethernet (POE), Class Based Queuing (CBQ), Differentiated Services (DiffServ), and Low Latency Queuing (LLQ), NAT (Network Address Translation), OSPF (Open Shortest Path First), RIP (Routing Information Protocol), IGRP (Interior Gateway Routing Protocol), EIGRP (Enhanced IGRP), BGP (Border Gateway Protocol), EGP (Exterior Gateway Protocol), and IDRP (Interdomain Routing Protocol). Prior experience with the functions and capabilities of following vendor specific hardware/devices using the above listed technologies: Cisco components to include 870 and 3800 series routers and catalyst switches. Prior experience with the following Video and Voice over Internet Protocol technologies: IP Trunking, H.323 VoIP Trunking, Power over Ethernet (POE), H.323 (Real-time transmission of voice, video, and data), MGCP (Media Gateway Control Protocol), and Real-Time Transport Protocol (RTP). Prior experience with the functions and capabilities of following vendor specific hardware/devices using the above listed technologies: Polycom components to include PVX desktop videoconferencing systems, Avaya Telephony components/software IP Endpoints, IP Telephones, and IP Softphones; CISCO components/software include, Call manager 4.23, CISCO 7900 series IP telephones. Prior experience with the following High Assurance Internet Protocol Encryption (HAIPE) technologies and vendor specific hardware/devices: General Dynamics KG-175 Family encryptors, L3 KOV-26 TALON Card, and VIASAT KG-250 encryptors. Familiar with Orion SolarWinds, Proxy services, Sidewinder firewall, TACLANE devices, KG-250 devices, DNS, DHCP, Parabit and WAN optimizers. Mandatory Certifications:  CCNP.
