We are currently looking for a qualified Assistant Teacher to join our Child Development Center at our worldwide headquarters in Islandia, NY on a part-time basis. The Assistant teacher will help to maintain a warm and safe environment that is orderly, clean, and appealing. In addition, they will arrange classroom projects that allow for individual or group participation; offering follow up activities and plan weekly lessons with other members of staff so that they provide input to program. The CA Montessori Childrens Center provides an environment that nurtures children, while stimulating creativity and expanding their horizons. We realize that educators with experience in areas such as music, art, special education or nursing can enrich and enhance our program. The successful candidate will be able to observe and inform Managing Teacher(s) of the progress of each individual child and will maintain an appropriate atmosphere of safety, learning, and fun, in line with Montessori philosophy. All Assistant Teachers must exhibit a sense of calm, consistency, grace and courtesy toward the children in the classroom. Candidates with college level educational experience in Early Childhood Education, Psychology or related degrees will be considered. Previous experience working with children is required. Also, each Assistant Teacher must have excellent communication skills both oral and written with flexibility to work with age groups from 6 weeks to 6 years.
