Biostatistician Requisition #: 41239 Role: ACRP Level: 4 Range: MD Status: Full Time Hours Worked: 37.5 Work Week: Monday - Friday Contact: Lisa Beyer Personnel Area: School of Medicine Org Unit: Pulmonary Location: Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center Approximate Starting Salary: $43,920 - $60,417 General Description: Will perform statistical analyses for publications, presentations & grant submissions. Provide statistical consultation for PI, co-investigators & other staff. Provide biostatistical support including major responsibilities for data analysis; maintain and document the different study data systems and databases; merge and clean multiple datasets on a routine basis; produce well documented programs for analysis for special meetings, presentations, and manuscripts; report/paper writing. Work with study investigators to design and implement analyses for reports and manuscripts. Essential Job Functions include: Communicate with investigators to determine their needs with respect to statistical design of studies including sample size calculations and randomization; Collaborate with investigators on protocol designs, data analysis plans, grant applications, and preparation of presentations and publications; Oversee data collection, entry & editing; Identify systematic problems with data related to lab or data cleaning methods, software, or personnel. Design data analyses strategies; Responsible for preparation of data files and statistical reports for multiple research projects; Utilize standard and non-standard biostatistical and database methods for the production of statistical analyses; Implement appropriate methodologic procedures for statistical analysis, overall descriptive statistics, exploratory data analyses, including graphs, schematic summaries, and necessary transformations and confirmatory data analyses, including statistical tests and/or modeling; Write computer codes in a procedural-oriented computer language to accomplish the actual statistical analysis; select the appropriate computing environment; Interpret and analyze the results of statistical analyses; Prepare written reports of statistical analyses, including relevant statistical theory, references, methods, results, and conclusions; Attend weekly scientific meetings. This description is a general statement of required major duties and responsibilities performed on a regular and continuous basis. It does not exclude other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Masters degree in biostatistics, epidemiology, or related quantitative field required. One year of related experience required. Demonstrated ability on significant graduate project or additional doctoral education may substitute for experience. Experience in statistical analysis, database management & data analysis including longitudinal analysis. Familiarity with database management and knowledge of operating systems including Windows and computer programming language of SPSS, SAS, R &/or STATA, Access, Excel, MSWord. Experience with Visual Basic desired. Ability to independently use reference manuals to develop proficiency with software of computer systems. Good organizational, written and verbal communication skills in the preparation and presentation of results required. Good interpersonal skills in dealing with investigators and understanding their problems. NOTE: The successful candidate(s) for this position will be subject to a pre-employment background check. The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, working with research subjects, or involving community contact generally require immunization against mumps, rubella, measles, chicken pox and hepatitis B. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office. Please be aware that should you require vaccination for chicken pox, the vaccine is administered in two doses given six weeks apart. Johns Hopkins University policy is that individuals will be placed off work without pay between the two doses.
