Title: Oracle DBA L:ocation Saint Cloud, MN Length: Contract Rate: DOE
We are looking for a contractor to provide assistance to our clients Oracle DBA group for 3 - 6 months +. This is a back fill for staff who are assigned to special projects. We are looking for a person with strong Oracle experience with 8i, 9i and 10g & RAC. Preferably that person has operations experience and is knowledgeable in RMAN. Data warehouse experience is a plus. Financial Industry experience is a plus
Job Summary: This position is responsible for the ongoing support, administration, security and procedures for all enterprise database Oracle Servers used to support client. This includes, but is not limited to controls and support of both data and code.
This professional will be responsible for Tier 2 support for Production issues and Helpdesk tickets, as well as, the deployment of Production and QA database releases in support of application development efforts. This role will ensure that customer service, system availability targets, and service level agreements are established and met.
Responsible for:
Provide 2nd tier, 24x7 production support including but not limited to the release of development projects and migration of database related changes
Provides daily administration of database related systems.
Provide, assist and participate in the creative process in improving architectural designs and the implementation of new architecture to consistently improve our database enterprise for optimal efficiency and cost effectiveness.
Implements and supports all defined architectural strategies.
Monitors and proactively supports all Database related systems
Capacity plans for all database related systems and proposes recommendations to Database Architect.
Proactively tune and review database related structure and code to ensure optimization of performance
Provide support of production related data, including data maintenance where required and approved.
Install and configure new databases systems.
Supports the backup and recovery strategy for the Database environment
Implements and provides direction for all security related initiatives, vulnerabilities etc.
Collaborates or works with: Database Leads and Database Architects to develop standards in processes and infrastructure design, build and implementation.
Project Teams to provide infrastructure and business project support.
Development Teams to provide programming guidance and architectural support for applications and development project initiatives.
Data Modeling and Development team to assist in the review of relational and non-relational database models and their physical generation.
Experience & Qualifications:
Service availability for all production systems
Service performance relative to service requests and customer satisfaction
Expense management relating to systems maintenance and equipment support
Education and/or Certifications:
Four-year degree in related discipline with 7+ years experience in systems development
Minimum of 5+ Years of working with Oracle Databases in an administrative and development support role.
Work with database servers should consist of at least 80% of the candidate*s responsibilities.
Service performance relative to service requests and customer satisfaction
Continued training and study in Technology and Business Leadership.
Technical training on UNIX, Windows platform design and support
Technical skills and abilities: Strong technical knowledge of Oracle 8i/9i/ 10 G Enterprise Server. Strong knowledge of Database Installation, setup, creation, tuning and maintenance processes. Strong technical knowledge of Database Disaster Recovery and High Availability techniques and implementations. Strong technical knowledge of Oracle Dataguard, Enterprise Manager, and RMAN. Strong knowledge of PL/SQL development and SQL tuning. Working knowledge of ORACLE RAC. Working knowledge of Database Design and Modeling, along with familiarity and use of at least one Database Modeling tool. Leadership in the deployment of world-class IT infrastructure. Ability to quickly troubleshoot and conduct root cause analysis. Ability to lead and motivate complex technical teams. Ownership and accountability for production level issues. Formal knowledge and practice of the Quality Process and Project Management philosophies and principles Off hours support as needed
