Qualified Senior Instructional Designer candidates will have a DOD Secret security clearance or higher. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The selected Senior Instructional Designer candidate will support faculty, programs, schools, and campuses in the development and conversion of courses and programs to innovative online and other technology-assisted educational venues utilizing cutting-edge and creative design and course delivery options. Responsibilities include the analysis, design, development and implementation of online courses, web-based training, and face-to-face training curriculums; proactive consultation with subject matter experts to identify and obtain training objectives and content; drafting story boards and mock-ups, and writing and developing content as needed. This position will work on multiple projects concurrently, and must be able to create project plans and deliver timely results.
The selected Senior Instructional Designer candidate will serve as a leader among the design team members and also works collaboratively within the design and development team, across the division, the institution, and the University of Wisconsin System to create an environment that is service oriented and supportive, inclusive, and engaging for adult and nontraditional learners.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
-Consult with faculty, clients, colleagues, and other subject matter experts to recommend instructional delivery options, identify and obtain training content, draft story boards and mock-ups, write course content and develop online courses and training modules.
-Analyze, design, lead or participate in the development and implementation of online courses, web-based training, and face-to-face training curriculums utilizing cutting-edge and creative design and course delivery options.
-Lead teams of stakeholders in the completion of complex projects.
-Utilize shared organizational decision making process in evaluating, recommending, and implementing options and alternatives relating to program/course development, new design technology adoption, initiative or change implementation.
-Evaluate emerging online or technology assisted educational tools and make recommendations for use; integrate technological innovations into the development process.
-Create and execute project plans following a project delivery approach to design and development work. Plan, execute, and measure work results.
-Create design templates and graphical user interfaces.
-Work collaboratively to design and/or develop dynamic instructional interactions and simulations.
-Work collaboratively to design and/or develop web applications for internal, organizational, and partner/client use.
-Perform or assist faculty in maintenance of existing Web-based courses.
-Provide technical and design assistance to faculty via rotating course support activities.
-Lead, assist, develop and model effective design practices.
-Work on multiple projects concurrently, monitor activity, progress, and time related to project development.
-Adhere to pre-established deadlines and deliver timely results.
-Implement changes to course material based on feedback from faculty and clients.
-Serve as project team lead on assigned projects.

-Six years online instructional design or equivalent experience.

-Proficiency in D2L and other course management systems.

--Proficiency in HTML, CSS, Flash and action scripting and some knowledge of XML. -Proficiency in Dreamweaver. -Proficiency in Captivate. -Proficiency in D2L, or Moodle. -Proficiency in graphic design in Adobe Photoshop or Macromedia Fireworks including the design and creation of instructional graphics. -Able to implement digital media in online environment. -Familiarity with Web 2.0 technologies.
-Master's degree in education, education technology, instructional design or related field.
-Proficiency in Flash, HTML, CSS, Fireworks, and Captivate.
-Familiarity with Web 2.0 technologies.
-Familiarity with Project Management software.
------------------------------------------ Instructional Design -Demonstrated proficiency in instructional design with experience in e-Learning course development.
-An ability to understand instructional and technical processes, products or concepts, and communicate them effectively to a non-technical audience.
-Experience in online course/training design and development.
-Experience in creating task-oriented training materials, such as step-by-step instructions, content outlines, story boards and Web-based training modules.
-Experience in design, development, delivery and evaluation of face-to-face training.
-Experience providing training consultation and/or training curriculum/product design recommendations.
