Mid-Level UNIX (Solaris and Linux) System Admin
Will be temp-to-perm or straight permanent position.
The IT team designs, develops and maintains a number of highly-available, low-latency quoting and trading systems, using cutting-edge computing software and hardware.
We are looking for a mid-level UNIX (Solaris and Linux) system administrator who has a significant exposure to critical business application and environments requiring 24 x 7 systems availability. The selected candidate will be responsible for the day to day operations of our IT infrastructure, the deployment of new systems, and some system security aspects of our Operations.
Requirements:
· B.S degree in Computer Science and/or appropriate certifications
· SUN Solaris-10 and Linux experiences are a must for this position
· Minimum of 3 to 5 years of Systems Administration in a high availability and distributed UNIX environment
· EMC SAN storage knowledge is a plus, especially with Clariion CX product line, Navisphere, MirrorView, and Snapview
· Understanding of some or all of the following technologies is also plus: BGP/RIP, VPN, SSL/SSH, SNMP, F5, LDAP, EMC, Nagios, JBoss, Tomcat, Apache, FIX protocol
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
· Demonstrated ability to function in a high pressure production support environment and make informed real-time decisions based on business priorities and implications.
Main responsibilities include, but not limited to:
· Preventative and proactive system monitoring functions and real-time responses encompassing: - Systems Administration - Storage Administration - Backup and Restore Administration - Security Administration
· Working closely with developers, product managers and infrastructure teams on the identification and implementation of operational improvement activities, including change preparation, change execution, and post-change QA validation
· Coordinating with engineering on roadmaps, automation, and operational improvement activities across multiple environments
· Preparing, updating, and maintaining technical documentation
· Installations, upgrades, system maintenance and trouble-shooting

3-5 years of hands on Solaris 10 experience
Experience in the financial world
Exposure to project management and engineering
