Senior Test Engineer

DESCRIPTION:

This position is responsible for performing the quality assurance (QA) activities of the CTO Software Development group.

Specifically, role is responsible for performing manual testing, developing LoadRunner and QuickTest professional scripts and performing manual performance profiling for the team.

The analyst should be an EXPERT with QuickTest and LoadRunner.  Also with QuickTest’s shared object repository feature, global datasheets feature, regular expressions, customized function creation, and good coding practices.  They should be an expert with LoadRunner’s correlation feature, data parameterization, IP Spoofing, custom reporting, and monitoring.  They should be skilled at developing test plans and test cases for software and infrastructure development projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Coordinate test planning, manual testing and automated testing, according to project deliverables.

• Develop, maintain, and execute automated test scripts.  Maintain complete, detailed test results data.

• Generate, publish test team reports indicating test scripts passed, failed, not run, including # defects created as a result of testing.

• Identify/automate those manual, functional test scripts that are good candidates as regression test scripts for automation using QuickTest Professional and LoadRunner.

• Develop, execute automated test scripts for future regression testing.

• Design, develop, execute performance test scenarios as required using LoadRunner.

• Open defect records for all defects resulting from testing, ensuring all high and urgent priority defects are resolved prior to project implementation.

• Support software engineering team by performing a basic level of root cause analysis on any performance bottlenecks identified in course of testing.

• Continually build knowledge and proficiency in testing methodologies.

• Keep abreast of changes in technology regarding application development / testing tools.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

·  Minimum of 5 years experience working in a quality assurance / quality control function for web-based software solutions.

·  Bachelors degree in MIS, Computer Science or related field or equivalent work required.

·  Versed in testing methodologies, processes and tools (test plans, test scripts, defect tracking, etc).

·  Experience working within an Agile SDLC methodology.

·  Demonstrated success collaborating with global project teams.

·  Proficient in the use of Mercury QuickTest Professional to automate regression / functional testing.

·  Proficient in use of Mercury LoadRunner script and scenario design and execution for performance testing.

·  General knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Powerpoint.

·  Experience identifying cause of performance problems within an application.
