More information about this job: Overview: Provides accounting expertise to assist a Federal client to remediate weaknesses in the capitalization of Plant, Property and Equipment (PP&E), Operating Materials and Supplies (OM&S) and other financial areas defined by the client. Will support a program/project office in financial aspects of its Acquisition, Construction & Improvement Appropriation. Work location is Washington DC with 25% travel to Chesapeake, Va. and/or Elizabeth City N.C. Responsibilities: Support the Acquisition Directorate in financial aspects of its AC&I Appropriation and in particular the management and capitalization of project assets. Provide interpretations and application of FASAB and other GAAP guidance to enable the client to fully support the valuation and documentation of its assets Provide accounting and financial analysis and remediation activities on specific projects in an effort to support existence, completeness, and valuation assertions. Prepare asset valuation and capitalization packages for submission and approval to the CFO organization. Review and trace specific invoices to benefitting assets. Conducts briefings and technical meetings for senior client Management on the progress made in documenting valuations and capitalization efforts. Must have strong Excel skills and the ability to resolve accounting and financial issues and problems that are moderate to complex in nature. Must be able to write White/Point Papers that are factually correct and supported by acceptable accounting sources. Position is guided by Federal Accounting and Auditing Standards. Qualifications: Bachelors in Accounting, Finance or Business A minimum of four years Accounting experience Knowledge of MS Office - Excel extremely important along with knowledge of Oracle Financials CPA a plus, additional Federal experience also a plus.
