OVERVIEW: Infrastructure Engineers are responsible for requirements definition, engineering, operations and information security across various technologies, such as networking, computing, and storage. This individual will be working on a team of application specialists focused against performance tuning and application analysis for one of the banks premier applications. HIGH LEVEL SUMMARY: As a Technical Specialist, the candidate will be responsible for defining requirements for configuration and system tuning in a mission-critical, 24/7 environment. Supported systems include e-commerce, accounting, customer service, warehouse management, and/or decision support. Primary Responsibilities: Provide technical oversight and governance for operating systems within the development unit. Interact with the System’s Administration and Production Support staff focused against datacenter relationship management in order to ensure delivery and process is followed across the team. Responsible for performance tuning and testing of large and complex systems in order ensure reliable performance of a system. Review and document where required all the high availability and disaster recovery guides in order to ensure that appropriate training and planning. Secondary Responsibilities: Capacity planning and projections for a large / high capacity environment. Planning and implementation of database/site scalability/capacity architecture to support ongoing business growth. Participate in performance analysis and tuning projects of the systems with the associated applications. Mentoring junior staff and providing technical leadership to large-scale projects. Lead initiative to develop scripts and other programs for system monitoring and maintenance. Perform / Lead testing initiatives focused against the database. Ensure testing is performed properly and review/present results with senior management with recommendations. CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS Technical Competencies: Understand high availability and mean time to failure for systems. Have a good understanding of common Operating Systems. (Solaris, AIX, Windows) Have a knowledge of network technologies. Good knowledge of PL/SQL, and assisting developers with writing and tuning database code. Interpersonal Leadership Competencies: · Works well and respects other disciplines of the project teams. · Strong negotiation and influence skills. · Ability to manage risk appropriately. Ability to thrive in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment. · Excellent technical written and verbal communication skills. Ability to prioritize individual and team tasks and projects so that deadlines are met. Ability to work on multiple deliverables at once and appropriately managing ones time. The candidate must be self-motivated. The candidate must be education oriented. Other Experience: 4+ years experience as an infrastructure engineer. Must have experience with defining testing strategies and executing against test plans for systems certification. Must have working in either a systems administration team or other related organization. A Bachelor of Science or Arts in an engineering or computer science field preferred.
