Staff Associate Investigator - Computational Chemistry...

Title: Staff Associate Investigator - Computational Chemistry Visiting Research Scientist Location: Delaware-WILMINGTON The Visiting Scientist position is equivalent to an industrial postdoc position for a period of one year with a possible chance for renewal. The successful candidate will be a highly motivated and driven individual who will easily interact with both experimental and computational research scientists. Initially, this person will work with the computational chemistry team to build solid-state computational capabilities and to assist experimental efforts in creating new materials for alternative energy (e.g., photovoltaics and lithium-ion batteries) solutions. In the longer term, this person is expected to discover and implement novel computational methods, analyses, and procedures which accelerate DuPont's scientific research productivity. * Ph.D. or equivalent in Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science, or closely related field within past 5 years. * Thorough understanding and practical expertise in quantum chemistry and/or condensed matter physics methods is essential. Although experience with modern modeling packages such as Materials Studio, MedeA, CASTEP, and VASP is preferred, we will also consider experience with public domain and open source software for solid-state materials. * A proven track record in publishing in the molecular simulation field. * Working knowledge with modern computer operating systems (Unix/Linux) and with programming languages (e.g., shell scripts, Perl, Python, C, or Fortran), especially in facilitating routine tasks. * Experience working in diverse research teams toward common goals. * Excellent interpersonal and communication (both oral and written) skills. * Strong desire to further the current state of computational research with the intent of delivering peer reviewed publications. * Knowledgeable in applying workflow technologies, such as Pipeline Pilot, Taverna, or KNIME, a plus.
