Kapi`olani Medical Specialist in the Newborn Special Care Unit (NSCU) where youll find the support and dedication to excellence that you are looking for.

Every unit at Kapiolani Medical Center for Women and Children functions under a shared mission to provide the highest quality healthcare and services.  Here in the NSCU exceptional skill and collaboration is used to deliver care that includes high frequency oscillatory or jet ventilatory oxygenation support, nitric oxide therapy, bedside ECMO, and managing vasopressors to name a few.  In order to provide the highest level of service ongoing education and clinical skills assessment are provided to our team.

The Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) will be proficient with all procedures preformed in the NSCU.  The midlevel practitioner team focuses on restoring health and function and providing comfort and dignity through the continuum of care.  This experienced and caring team incorporates evidence-based practice and state of the art technologies in their multidisciplinary approach to care.  The team includes a Neonatologist, Midlevel Practitioner (hospitatist or NNP or Physician Assistant), Pharmacist, Case Manager, Social Worker, and other disciplines that help to achieve excellence in care.

Kapi`olani is well recognized as Hawaiis leader in the care of women and children.  As the major teaching hospital for the states OB/GYN program, Kapiolani has a highly trained team of physician specialists, nurses, technologists and therapists that share a special understanding of womens needs.

Hawaii Pacific Health is Hawaiis largest health care system including a network of four hospitals, 22 outpatient centers, and dedicated physicians on three islands.  We are 5,200+ caring employees strongly committed to health care excellence.  Our facilities include: Kapiolani Medical Center for Women and Children, Kapiolani Medical Center at Pali Momi, Straub Clinic and Hospital, Wilcox Memorial Hospital.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:  Current Hawaii RN license.  Completion of a formal Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Program.  Must meet education requirements for Hawaii state licensing as an APRN.  Nationally certified as a neonatal nurse practitioner through ANCC.  Successful completion of Medical Staff Credentialing process.  Current BLS Healthcare Provider/AED card.  Current NRP Certification.  Two years experience in Level III Newborn Special Care Unit.

Preferred:  One year advanced practitioner experience.  Teaching and/or public speaking experience.
