Our portfolio teams manage assets for institutional and individual investors alike. Accordingly, all of our clients benefit from our portfolio management expertise and risk management analytics. There are a number of opportunities to join portfolio management from within BlackRock as it selects many of its members from various groups in the company. All of our portfolio managers leverage the expertise of other investment teams through the strength of a shared research, trading and risk management platform. For example, Galileo?, part of our proprietary risk management system, provides company research and analysis through online access and formally integrates this information into our fixed income and equity portfolio management process. Our investment professionals benefit from the resources of a world-class firm that continually invests in its business and is differentiated by a team approach and integrated research and risk management. The Tax-Exempt Municipal Fixed Income team manages long-term and short-term municipal bonds; it is one of the largest managers of municipal assets. All portfolio management, research and trading activities within the firms municipal bond business is overseen by the head of the Municipals Portfolio and Investment Teams within BlackRocks Fixed Income Portfolio Management Group. Day-to-day activity is conducted by a dedicated portfolio management team of over 25 professionals, and is further supported by 12 municipal research analysts. Responsibilities We seek a portfolio manager (PM) for institutional accounts within the municipal portfolio management team. The PM will focus on municipals but will have the ability to develop a cross sector relative value strategy. Additionally, the PM will help formulate and execute the teams investment strategy and interact with other members of both the tax exempt and taxable fixed income team. The role will require a large degree of client facing situations, either through conference calls or in person meetings at client offices. Therefore, communication and presentation skills are important to this role. The ability to articulate our strategy and speak of broader market trends as it pertains to clients needs is a major focus of this position. The municipal group is based in Princeton, though this position will be New York based due to the institutional cross over focus. This will require the individual to work from the Princeton location at least 3-4 times per month in order to interact with the municipal research team and participate in the municipal groups strategy meetings.
